Stacy and Carissa both know the ugly truth - women in America have to work two, three, even four or five times harder than their counterparts if they want to have their voices heard and some respect on their paychecks. And if a woman also has a felony conviction, it's almost also impossible for her to build a life that is respectable.
Stacy and Carissa both watched women leave and return back to prison, only to leave and return over and over again over the years. It hurt to watch the strong, courageous women who were so desperate to return to their children and lives struggle to overcome the vicious cycle of incarceration. They knew something needed to be done, something needed to change.
Once Stacy and Carissa completed their prison and parole sentences, Women In Leadership was officially born. Because they had successfully beaten America's sky-high 76% recidivism rate by not returning back to prison, which was a modern-day miracle, they wanted to streamline that success to as many other afflicted women.
Women are the heart, the backbone, and the engine in every family. Without our women, our families remain broken. Women In Leadership is an organization that fights to keep our families whole, united, and healthy.
